How to Organize Your Old Textbooks in Your Home Office

    • 1). Set up your shelves. If you have many books that you would like to keep in your home office, a freestanding shelf with three tiers is a good choice. If you have fewer books, opt for a smaller shelf that can be set on top of a desk or some other table.

    • 2). Get rid of all of the textbooks that you won't need.as reference If you are keeping the textbooks purely for their decorative value, remove any books that are not of a similar size or shape to the others. Donate the books that you do not want to a library or take them to a used bookstore.

    • 3). Sort your textbooks by subject. This helps keep them in order and it also helps you find them when you need them.

    • 4). Sort each subject grouping by title or by author.

    • 5). Set the books on the shelf organized by subject and then by title or author.
