Learning About Syphilis

Many have been a victim of syphilis, a type of sexually transmitted disease.
However, some of these victims did not have the time to treat their infection since it was already too late for them to notice it.
There should be no other victims of this disease just because we don't have enough information and knowledge about it.
Even if it is easily transmitted nowadays, there is already an available and accessible treatment to it.
To free yourself from this, you can learn more about it by reading on.
Syphilis, as already mentioned, is a form of STD (or Sexually Transmitted Disease).
It is spread by the Treponema pallidum bacterium.
This is made possible by having a direct contact with a person who has syphilis sore.
This sore or chancre can be found in the mouth, lips, vagina, external genitals, rectum, and anus of an infected individual.
It can be transmitted through anal, oral, or vaginal sex.
If a mother has syphilis infection, she can transmit the disease through congenital birth.
Syphilis has three stages.
During its first and second stages, the disease can easily be transmitted to another individual.
There are certain syphilis symptoms to easily identify the infection.
The first stage is characterized by the syphilis chancre.
Usually, it is mistaken as an insect bite.
This becomes visible after 21 days since the contact with a syphilis-infected person.
This sore is round and small.
Most of the time, it is painless and firm.
It can last for 1 week up to 5 weeks.
After this period, it just goes away like nothing happened.
The second stage, on the contrary, is identified by a rash.
Usually, it is just visible on the palm of the hands or the bottom of the feet.
However, there are instances where infected people suffer from heat rash all over the body.
Its difference from the usual rashes is that it is not itchy.
Like the first stage, it just exists for a couple of weeks and eventually fades out.
It is right after this stage that syphilis becomes dangerous.
If the infection remains untreated when it is already over the first and second stages, this is where it starts to take on its toll on the human body.
Since it is already the last stage, it can already cause blindness and heart disease.
Also, it already caused a lot of damage to one's internal organs.
On its worst case, it can lead to death.
The good thing about this infection is that it is curable.
With just a simple dosage of penicillin as prescribed by your doctor, it can already be treated.
For victims who are allergic to penicillin, there are antibiotics that can be an alternative to this medication.
One can consult his doctor to learn about it.
This just simple means that an individual should immediately see a doctor for a syphilis testing to get rid of the infection as soon as possible.
Even if this disease cannot be easily detected as mentioned, it is always safe to see the doctor.
After all, it is always safe to have an STD testing to avoid any complication.
