- 1). Log into the system as a system administrator.
- 2). Click the "Start" menu and choose "Control Panel." Click "Appearance and Personalization," then click "Folder Options."
- 3). Click "View," then click the "Show hidden files and folders" button, located in the "Advanced settings" section.
- 4). Uncheck the check box that corresponds to the "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)" option. This lets you modify disabled attributes that correspond to the operating system.
- 5). Click "Apply," then click "OK" to confirm changes.
- 6). Open the folder that contains the attributes you want to modify. The attributes will be enabled and editable. Modify the files as needed.
