- Fast food and restaurant options are more varied than ever when it comes to offering dining options conducive to weight loss. If you like salads and grilled chicken sandwiches, go for it, but also know that from Wendy's baked potatoes (as long as you don't load them) to an entire Weight Watchers-friendly menu at Applebee's, there are plenty of choices out there. Just remember, avoid creamy sauces and anything fried, and supplement with vegetables. In addition, be sure to pack healthy snacks when you are on the go. These can include popcorn, apples, celery and peanut butter, or even a sandwich made with peanut butter and jelly or lean meats and cheeses.
- When it comes to water, you either love it or hate it. If you're a hater, there are all kinds of creative ways to get in your daily recommended eight 8-oz. glasses of water. For one, make yourself drink a glass of water for every working hour of your day and you've got eight knocked down in no time. Find an attractive portable bottle for drinking water that will make it more desirable to do so. If you are absolutely desperate, half of your daily recommended intake can be from drinks such as Crystal Light. In this case, purchase the little packets of powder and drop one into your water bottle.
- For cardio, it's easy to walk wherever you end up, but if you end up staying at a hotel, check out the gym. Hotel gyms often offer treadmills in front of televisions--the perfect anecdote to a busy day of business travel. As for strength training, drop into your favorite sporting goods store and invest in a "gym in a bag." These kits come with tubes, bands and instructions on how to get the best strength workouts. If the thought of those two options make you want to gag, get out into the places you're visiting and explore; find the nearest park, or fit in activities that will keep you on the move, such as roller blading, bicycling or swimming.
