- 1). Click the "View" drop-down menu and highlight the "Toolbars" option to display a list of available options. Click the "Drawing" option to view the toolbar in PowerPoint.
- 2). Click the "AutoShapes" button on the Drawing toolbar and highlight the "Lines" option. Click the style of line that you want to insert into your PowerPoint document. The cursor will appear as a plus sign (+).
- 3). Click once in the area of the PowerPoint presentation in which you want to insert a line. Drag to the desired size while holding down the mouse button. Release the mouse button to complete the line. To change the appearance of the line, select it, right-click once and choose the "Format AutoShape" option. Use the "Shape Styles" menu and other options on the "Colors and Lines" tab of the Format AutoShape window to alter the appearance of the line (color, style, weight and so forth).
