- 1). Measure along the bottom of the wall to find its center. Make a vertical line at the middle, up the whole wall, with your level and pencil. Make a horizontal line along the bottom, sitting up off the floor by the height of a tile plus 1/4 inch. This line will intersect the vertical line you drew.
- 2). Pour 3 qts. of water into the bottom of a bucket. Pour in half your 40-lb. bag of Laticrete. Mix with your drill and mixing bar, adding a little more water to get it to the consistency of thick mud.
- 3). Use your notched trowel to spread Laticrete along the bottom of the wall, below the horizontal line.
- 4). Set the first two tiles in the Laticrete on either side of the vertical line, with the tiles sitting under the horizontal line. The nubs on the sides of the wall tiles will keep them properly spaced apart.
- 5). Build out from there, hanging the whole bottom row of tiles, then building up the wall, spreading additional Laticrete. Mix the second half of the bag if needed. Hang each row of tiles, starting at the vertical center line and building out to the sides. Cut the pieces at the edges of the wall as necessary, on your tile cutter. Tile the whole wall.
- 6). Let the Laticrete set overnight. Use a grout float, a rubber trowel, to spread grout on the wall. Start at the top, forcing the grout into the spaces between the tiles. Use a damp sponge to wipe off the excess grout.
