What Is the Difference Between the Horsepower of a Mustang GT and Ford Cobra?

    History

    • The Mustang GT first appeared in 1965 and went through many changes through the years. In that first year alone, Ford sold over 550,000 cars.

      The Ford Cobra was developed by Carroll Shelby in the 1960s after he stopped racing. Approximately 1,000 AC Cobras were produced between 1962 and 1967 by Shelby for racing and Ford reintroduced a street version in 1993.

    Mustang GT

    • Since 2005, all Mustang GT's have been built with at least 300 horsepower in the 4.6-liter V-8 engine. The V-6 GT offers 200 horsepower.

    Cobra

    • The newest Cobra has a supercharged version of the 4.6-liter, V-8 motor with 390 horsepower. It is considered the fastest Mustang ever built by Ford.
