The institution of marriage is now a dreaded one because the divorce rates is now very high. Those that are in it are jumping out and those are not in are scared of going in. what could be the cause of the high divorce rate? Is it that people are not ready to work on their marriages again? Someone once told me that the problem with marriages is that people get wedded with high hopes and tall dreams. When those dreams and hopes are dashed, they opt out.
The simple truth is this; no marriage on earth is perfect. Marriage is the coming together of two different people from different backgrounds and it would never be easy to mingle values and preferences. To make a marriage work, you and your spouse would need to constantly work on it. You would have to make sacrifice and forgo some things just to remain in the marriage institution.
So what happens when things go bad and your marriage is on the verge of breaking down? You don't have to pack up and leave; you can actually save the marriage.
1. Take your mind back and reminisce on how things used to be in the past. Have you changed from being who you were? Were you such a darling but now nag too much? Were you always caring but now it seems you only have your mind on making money?
2. Sit down with your partner and have a discussion-heart to heart. You are both adults so I guess you would be able to control your temper and be sincerely open with each other. You both need to decide on whether you think the marriage can work and what you need to do to get back on track.
3. If you have both decided that your marriage can still be saved, develop a plan on how to go about that. Does one of you need to lose weight, change a lifestyle, drop a habit, change a job etc? Making sacrifices for one another is not easy and you would both need to encourage each other all the way through.
4. In marriage, there are some vital skills you need to learn in order to move forward. Be open to discussion and listen sincerely. Control your temper at all times and don't give in to violence or nagging. Communication is vital; always listen, understand and then speak.
You should be able to save your marriage and have a blissful life from now on.
