- The health triangle consists of three points. Each point symbolizes one part of what it means to be human. There is the physical point, the mental point and the social point. These points to each other, giving each other support and balance. The health triangle is there to help us understand that we cannot have success with one point while the other points are failing. They all need each other.
- It is important to take care of ourselves physically by getting the proper amount of rest, exercise and nutrition. It is also crucial that we do not put harmful substances into our bodies, such as tobacco and other drugs that can damage our bodies prematurely. when we do not feel well, we are not our best selves, not just physically, but mentally and socially.
- Staying mentally healthy is a daily task. Just like physical activity strengthens the heart and muscles, learning, being able to balance work and family, and developing skills to deal with everyday issues are good for our mental well being. When we are mentally balanced, we have less stress and less stress means fewer physical problems such as headaches and sore muscles. When we are able to balance our lives, the people around us are likely to be happier, too.
- Being socially healthy means you get along well in society. You are able to make friends and keep them. You are able to resolve conflict without being overbearing or too submissive. You can appreciate different points of view. These are just a few examples of what being socially healthy means. We all have to live in some form of society, dealing and working with people. Without the proper skills to get along with others we will struggle keeping friends and even employment.
- We all have hard times in our lives and often we need someone to help us find clarity. If the stress of life is more than you can handle and if you are physically drained and depressed from all that is going on, seek the help of a professional, whether it be a medical doctor or a psychologist. They might be able to help you find what you need to get back on track.
