How the interaction occurs:

Antacids may bind to elvitegravir in your stomach.

What might happen:

If you take an antacid at the same time as your elvitegravir, the amount of elvitegravir that is absorbed into your blood may decrease and it may not work as well.

What you should do about this interaction:

Let your healthcare professionals (e.g. doctor or pharmacist) know that you are taking these medicines together. If you are taking an antacid (aluminum/magnesium hydroxide, calcium carbonate), take it at least 2 hours before or after you take your elvitegravir. If you have any questions about how or when to take your medicine, ask your pharmacist.Your healthcare professionals may already be aware of this interaction and may be monitoring you for it.
