A few days ago now, the Australian Government has released the new budget for the year with new "assumptions" and gifts...
for all us mere mortals.
Looks very much like a pre-election Budget.
Not much pain lots of gifts for the pensioners, nothing wrong with that, a bit of a clobbering for the middle class and the semblance of a big stick for the rich end of town.
Maybe they are so confident of what's around the corner that there's no need for pain? No I'll stay with the early election theory.
One good thing that might help the property industry is the extension, even if limited, of the First Home Owner Grant.
The current format of $21,000 for new dwellings and $14,000 for established homes is to remain unchanged until the 1st of October 2009.
from 1 October to 1 December 2009 the boost will be halved, it will look like this New Homes Government grant of $14,000.
00 and existing homes $10,500.
1 December will see the return of the standard FHB scheme of $7,000 regardless of the type of property, new or old.
Not much has happened in Mareeba (Far North Queensland) with the first boost, maybe the fact that now there is a day specified for the termination of the Grant, might spur the aspiring home owners to come out and commit!! (sounds a bit like Marriage.
) It is obvious to all, that both the Real Estate Industry and the Builders need help, not the monetary handouts that our Government is addicted too, but help as in work.
We want to sell houses, land, flats and they want to build them!! I'm not very good with statistic, a new house requires all sorts of tradesmen, that's families that are earning money in their own right and not surviving on the unemployment pension, doesn't matter how good it is.
For somebody that is "addicted" to work, it's a huge downer not being able to work!! Hopefully somebody is listening...
