So you want to know how to write a best seller.
Doesn't everyone? Well actually that's not true because if everyone was busily typing at their computer and submitting their novels to publishing houses, you'd never have a chance of seeing your book in print.
Thankfully, even though there are a lot of would-be authors, novice writers who actually complete a manuscript are not that plentiful as a whole.
It takes a lot of work to get that novel written from start to finish, and most are not up to the task.
But let's say you are one of those few and far between, and you're actually up to the daunting task of completing a book.
That's wonderful, and best of luck.
But how would you go about structuring your novel so that it has a chance of becoming a best seller? As they say, therein lies the rub.
It's so hard to tell what is going to end up selling well.
There are those mainstream authors that always sell, and you know who they are because you're confronted with them the moment you walk into the book store.
They are prolific writers and churn out book after book, all making the best-seller list.
So how can you, as a novice author, hope to compete? It's easy.
Just write a good story.
It is surprising to me how few popular books are really all that good.
They don't hold my interest, and I throw half of them down in disgust, partially read.
You need to write something fresh and new, and grab the reader's attention and hold it from start to finish.
Don't answer the questions right away - leave them guessing and wondering throughout the novel.
If it's a book they can't put down, believe me, they are going to tell their friends about it.
And those friends will tell others.
Not only that, your book will be flying off the shelves.
Of course, getting started is a little bit more difficult, but if you are determined to succeed you will.
