Step 1:
Wet your face with lukewarm water to prepare the skin for washing. Put a dime-size amount of mild face wash in your hands and work into a bubbly lather.
Step 2:
Apply the lather gently to your facing using circular motions with your hand without scrubbing the skin. Work the wash from your hairline along your forehead to below your jawline and down toward your neck.
Step 3:
Rinse the wash away from your face with lukewarm water, splashing the water over your face until no soap remains. Pat your face dry lightly with a clean towel.
Step 4:
Apply a topical cream or lotion according to packaging directions to break down whiteheads and blackheads by using products with resorcinol, salicylic acid or sulfur as an active ingredient. Products with benzoyl peroxide can also cut down oil on your skin.
Step 5:
Wash your face at least once a day with twice-daily washing being ideal for oily skin. Extra face washing can be done after exercise, swimming or after using sun block once you are inside.
