- 1). Hang out with friends with babies. If you don't know any, consider joining a group for new parents. Once you meet some more parents and kids, you can visit each other's house for play dates, or get some tips on kid-friendly destinations in your area.
- 2). Take advantage of parks and playgrounds if you have trouble finding places to go with a baby. Their constant appeal may be slightly baffling to adults, but many toddlers can entertain themselves happily at a playground. For a younger baby, a flat patch of grass, under the open sky, may be just as much fun.
- 3). Check out any children's museums, play centers or toy libraries in your area. You may have to pay for or join these attractions, but it can really pay off, especially in the winter when it's not as much fun to be outside. These types of space are generally designed with kids in mind and often have the added attraction of other babies to play with.
- 4). Scour local schools, gyms and facilities offering classes of all types for parent and baby. Look for these classes depending mostly on your own interests, since as long as you find places to go with a baby they may not care much what those places are. For example, a pool may offer baby swim classes or a yoga studio that offers baby-friendly classes.
- 5). Call local libraries to ask about story hours. Most libraries have at least one and many have story times designated specifically for babies and older children.
- 6). Just go for a walk. The bouncing or rolling motion of being carried or pushed in a stroller is soothing to many babies and may even put them to sleep. The change of scenery and fresh air is great for both of you and the parent gets some free exercise.
