- 1). Navigate to irs.gov. Select the "Business" tab from the top menu and then click on the "Employer ID Numbers" link under Businesses Topics on the left side of the page.
- 2). Scroll down the page and click on the "Apply for an EIN Online" link. Scroll down to the bottom of the resulting page and click on the "Apply Online Now" link.
- 3). Click "Begin Application" to begin filling out your application. Answer the questions to the online application and click "Submit." You will receive your EIN immediately upon verification of your application. You may have to wait up to two weeks before your number becomes part of the IRS's permanent records. You will receive notification from the IRS once your number has been received. You will then be able to file electronic returns and make electronic payments.
- 4). Download, save and print your EIN confirmation notice for your records.
