I am a single mother of 4 young children. Earlier this year I went through a divorce after 9 years of marriage. With 5 people in my household under 1 income, it has made it hard financially so I started thinking of ways to make an extra income. When I had my first child back in 1999 I started looking for stay at home jobs so that I would be able to be home with my daughter and not have to send her to day care. I searched high and low for something that was not a scam but worth my time and money. I wasted my money on trying those so called "at home" jobs all to find out that it was just a scam. I wanted something that I could do from home to stay with my children but also do what I love, which is typing.

I have been typing for the past 14 years. I previously worked at my county's courthouse as an index clerk typing 200+ documents daily at 80-85 WPM . I currently work for a computer company doing data entry. Medical Transcription is the only thing that have researched that sounds like something I would enjoy doing. I keep finding myself looking at websites trying to get more information about this field. I have been mailed information about other medical transcription schools and have asked people who have experience in this field to see if this is something I would like to pursue. I do not have any medical background so I asked a friend of mine who I found out was going to school for this what she thought and she highly recommended it to me. I want something that is flexible with hours and that I can do at anytime of the day but still make a good income. I want to be home when my kids get home from school and not have to depend on others to take them to ballet or karate or any other extracurricular activities they may have. I stay up late at night once my kids are in bed so I could even work at night. Right now I'm trying to figure out what I want to do for my future and for the future of my children. I would love to pursue this program and learn it and begin working and possibly in the future have people work under me, maybe even have my own medical transcription business. These are goals that I have recently set for myself and would like to achieve. I can only move forward from where I am at now considering my situation. I only want to better myself and my education and finish something that I started back when I was 19.
