- 1). Dial (900) 868-2995 from a landline telephone to contact CheckLookup. Cell phone calls will not work with this service.
- 2). Enter the routing number (9-digit number located at the bottom of the check between the transit symbols |: ) of the check when prompted. When the check is validated, CheckLookup will provide you with the bank name and phone number to match the check. If the check has been declined by the service, it is likely fake or bad.
- 3). Contact the bank with the provided phone number. The issuing bank can then verify whether funds are available and answer specific questions on the account number.
