- The side effects most commonly reported are appetite loss, constipation, weight gain, abdominal pain, nausea, gastralgia, hypoglycemia and diarrhea. Symptoms like headaches, drowsiness and dizziness usually disappear by adjusting the dose of Glucotrol.

- Pancytopenia, hemolytic anemia, leukopenia, aplastic anemia, thromboctyopenia and agranulocytosis have all been reported side effects in a small number of patients.
- Studies have reported the syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone (SIADH) and hyponatremia in a handful of patients.
- One in about 70 patients reported eczema, urticaria, pruritus, and erythema. In most instances, the conditions cleared up when the dosage was adjusted.
