- The side effects of Spansule may be listed as less serious side effects, serious side effects and allergic reaction. The less serious side effects include loss of appetite or weight loss or a dry mouth with an unpleasant taste along with diarrhea or constipation. In addition, there may be sleep problems, headache, dizziness and decreased interest in sex and impotence with difficulty having an orgasm. Seek your doctor's advice for any of these problems.
- These include tremors, restlessness and unusual behavior, hallucinations and muscle twitches. In addition, there may be fast or pounding heart beats, light-headedness and fainting. Also included may be extremely high blood pressure accompanied with intense headache and anxiety, along with confusion, blurred vision and buzzing in the ears. There also may be chest pain, shortness of breath and seizures. Seek immediate medical care for any of these symptoms.
- An allergic reaction is a life-threatening medical emergency. Seek immediate medical attention for any of these symptoms--itching, hives or swelling of the face, mouth, tongue or throat and shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.
- This medication is taken by many patients who never have side effects. Your doctor will evaluate how the benefit of the treatment outweighs the risk of the side effects.
- Spansule is a medication that may be habit forming. It should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. Use this drug cautiously if you are a patient with a history of mental disorder, alcohol or drug abuse. Drug dependency and/or unusual behaviors may develop as well as withdrawal symptoms when treatment is stopped. Seek medical advice for any of these situations. Spansule is not recommended for treating children younger than 6 years old.
