- 1). Pour or spray vinegar on invasive weeds. Spray directly on the weed and away from desirable plants.
- 2). Sprinkle rock salt on weeds growing in sidewalk cracks or a driveway. Avoid applying to any other area, because it will kill any living plant.
- 3). Boil water and quickly pour onto weeds, once a day for up to three days. Wait for the weeds to wilt and then die. Use a roto-tiller or hand pull roots of existing weeds. Repeat this process every four days until weeds are gone.
- 4). Mix 1 tsp. of rubbing alcohol with 1 liter of water in a spray bottle. Apply liberally to weeds, but keep away from other plants.
- 5). Spread 20 lbs. of corn gluten meal to every 1,000 square feet of lawn in April and again in August. Use the natural herbicide as a pre-emergent treatment against crab grass seeds.
- 6). Practice effective lawn management to minimize weed and crabgrass growth. Use a 1-inch layer of mulch in flower beds or cover the planting area with a barrier such as a tarp, newspaper or plastic sheet to prevent weeds from taking root in the soil.
