- 1). Cut the white construction paper with scissors so it is the height you desire for your drawing. Add an extra half inch for the stand. For instance, if it is a picture of a garden gate that is 3 inches tall and 4 inches wide, cut the paper so it is 3 1/2 inches tall and 4 inches wide.
- 2). Fold the bottom section of the construction paper up about 1/2 inch. Make a crease along the fold. This forms the stand of the drawing.
- 3). Hold the paper up in the diorama where you want it to stand. Check to ensure it does not obscure the background too much. If so, cut it down to a more appropriate size. If the background is still visible around most of the paper, the standing drawing adds a three dimensional look to the project.
- 4). Draw the artwork on a piece of white construction paper with a pencil. Color it in if you desire with acrylic paints and a craft brush or crayons. Other colors of construction paper are useful as well, depending on the drawing. For instance, brown paper is a wise choice for the silhouette of a tree during the winter.
- 5). Tape or glue the stand to the floor of the diorama with the folded section forming an "L" shape. Hold it in place for a few minutes to allow the glue to dry.
