The local unemployment office is not just for getting a check every week. They have numerous resources at their disposal to help you find employment. A few of these are:
* People there that will help you write a resume and cover letters.
* Extensive lists of job boards and other places to find employment opportunites
* Access to computers and the internet.
* Training programs that could help you get that job you really want.
* Many times the only way to apply to certain companies is through the local unemployment office. A couple of big companies that do this are DuPont and Tractor Supply.
If a local new Mill or store is opening that will be hiring in the near future:
-They may set aside a date and time to have people come down and fill out applications for when the company opens
-They then have another date&time to come back and interview for the job.
In this case you will be notified by mail if you were chosen for an opening. If so - when you will be starting, the proper dress attire and where you will be going for the training will be included in the letter.
You should be aware that they may have you train somewhere before that actual business opens. This will be done at another plant or store of the companies' until this particular one is open.
Your skills may not be required for that particular opening or not needed just at that particular time. Feel free to reapply at a later date and time. As I have seen in numerous instances where once originally rejected a job seeker was accepted when they later reapplied. As always- Don't get discouraged!
These two suggestions cost nothing -other than whatever the cost may be for traveling to and from. Replying to a flyer or looking into a job by word of mouth are no cost ways to find out about or to investigate a possible job opening as well..What's free in this world? Nothing. Everything costs something.
Effort is time. If you choose not to spend time and exert effort your lack of actions could actually be costly. Even if you are not exchanging green paper for a product; Time and effort are always being spent!
No Matter What-you will be investing time, invest wisely.
