- 1). Download a free version of the iTunes program from Apple.com. This is not the only way to download an audiobook, but it is the easiest way. ITunes also offers a wide variety of audiobook choices on the the site's store. To download iTunes from the Apple website, choose your operating system (Mac or PC) and click on “Download iTunes.” You are prompted to choose a folder for the files that are to be saved. Choose a place you will remember. Open the start-up files when it has finished downloading and follow the prompts to set up iTunes.
- 2). Open the iTunes main window and click on “iTunes store,” where you can choose from numerous audiobook titles. Click on “Purchase” to buy the audiobook, and the files automatically will download to your iTunes interface.
- 3). Click on the file of your new audiobook in the iTunes interface to play the audiobook from your computer speakers.
- 4). Click the plus sign at the bottom of iTunes to create a new playlist. Give the playlist a name. Drag the audiobook file and drop it on top of the name of the new playlist. Click the name of the playlist and insert a blank CD into the CD drive. Click on “Burn CD” at the bottom right corner of iTunes. When the CD has finished burning, you can play it on your home stereo or in the car.
- 5). Insert your MP3 player in the USB port and wait until iTunes recognizes your device. Drag the audiobook file and drop it on top of your MP3 device’s name to transfer the file to your MP3 player. Disconnect the MP3 device and listen to the audiobook through your headphones.
