As most of you are wondering what hemorrhoids look like, I tried to search the internet for some pictures. Amazingly, there are a lot of sites that offer tons of pictures of hemorrhoids. The pictures range from the early stage to a more severe stage. Distinguishing which is which can be a little more difficult for a non-medical practitioner. However, when you do more research for more information on hemorrhoids, you can probably have a good idea if the picture is of an early stage or a more severe stage.
Most of the pictures you will find online are mostly external ones. This is because this type occurs outside the anus and is visible to the naked eye. On the other hand, the internal ones are located inside the rectum and thus, cannot be seen. But when this type becomes severe, it will protrude outside the rectum and therefore, can be seen and photographed. So what you will mostly see online are pictures of external hemorrhoids - early and severe stage, the severe which is what we call thrombosed. You will also see severe internal ones which are what most people refer to as prolapsed.
The photos range from a small red lump, a more bulging and bigger lump which are sometimes purple in color. Mostly the pictures are focused on the opening of the anus which also shows the hemorrhoids. However, you should always keep in mind that even though you are suffering from symptoms of hemorrhoids, there is still a slight possibility that you might be suffering from another condition. This is because there are several diseases that have similar symptoms as hemmies. Some of these diseases are anorectal conditions, inflammatory bowel diseases, sexually transmitted diseases or polyps and cancers. So the best way is still to consult a doctor and have yourself examined.
