How to Install a Self Adhesive Vinyl Floor

    • 1). Measure the length and width of the room. Multiply the numbers together to determine the square footage and thus the number of boxes of one-square-foot tiles to purchase.

    • 2). Thoroughly clean the existing flooring with a scrub brush and an appropriate floor cleaner for your type of flooring. Let the floor completely dry before you move on.

    • 3). Use the tape measure to determine the room's center point. Peel the protective cover from the back of one tile and carefully place it in the exact center of the room. (Starting in the center will eliminate the need for making unnecessarily large cuts should you need to cut tiles to fit the edges of the room.) Go over the tile with a rolling pin to smooth it out.

    • 4). Continue laying tile around the center tile until you reach the walls. As needed, cut tiles to fit edges and corners. Measure the distance of the area, and carefully slice the tile to size with a box cutter.
