- According to Drugs.com, throat closure, breathing problems and tongue swelling can occur during allergic reactions to Synvisc and these reactions require emergency medical help.
- Bruising or a rash may develop at the site of a Synvisc injection. Temporary swelling or pain can occur in the joint where the drug was injected.
- Patients with allergies to birds, feathers or egg products should discuss these allergies with a doctor before receiving a Synvisc injection. Pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should talk with a doctor about the appropriate use of this drug in their specific condition.
- Synvisc should not be administered to a patient who has a skin disease at the site that would be used for an injection of the drug.
- Physical activities such as tennis, jogging or weightlifting should be avoided for 48 hours after a Synvisc injection.
