How to Choose a Class B Motorhome

    • 1). Identify the use. Class B motor homes are good for short trips over the weekend or small vacations. Check how many people will be traveling on these trips; use this information to decide the size of your vehicle.

    • 2). Pick the size. Class B motor homes vary in their dimensions, with the length generally ranging from 16 to 21 feet. Look at the specifications and photographs of various models. Smaller vehicles are easier to drive and park, but may be cramped when it comes to living space and storage. Use space as your main criterion because cramped conditions don't make for a great holiday. Although you may spend less time in the camper than outside, you'll need to stay in if the weather is bad. Narrow down the choice to two or three options. Find and note down details of dealers who sell the models you're interested in.

    • 3). Pay a visit to the vehicle dealers. Check out the models you're interested in. Examine the interiors carefully to see the space allocated for sleeping, cooking and eating. Pay attention to the bathrooms provided--it should include correctly mounted water holding tanks. Visualize how it will be like when all the people traveling occupy the vehicle.

    • 4). Choose carefully. Strike a balance between size and ease of driving. Bigger vehicles are comfortable, but they also mean difficulty in driving, parking, and greater toll fees. Decide how much you're willing to spend for the Class B motor home, factor in costs of fuel and consider the probability of repairs over time.
