How to Make a Harlequin Glitter Skull Craft
"Hi! I am Craftzilla, the crafty lady over at Glue Gun Crafts, where I tend to focus on crafts that can be created with a hot glue gun, but am always open to anything creative and crafty! I’m a junkie for crafty round ups where I can just scroll through craft after craft and get inspired but more than that, I love Halloween. So when August rolls around, I’m the first one combing the aisles for some spooky ideas!"
This spooky paper mache skull brings a little whimsy and a little fright to your mantle at the same time. You can make it following thee directions...
Gathering The Supplies
Before you start any project it is easiest to gather together all of the supplies. For this project you will need:
Drawing Your Diamonds
Start by deciding how large you want the diamond pattern to be on your skull. A larger diamond will equal less work for you, so if timing is important, draw bigger.
Using the pencil, draw the first diamond in the center with the point starting at the bridge of the nose of the skull. This will make it easier for drawing out the rest of the pattern. If you want to cover the entire skull in the harlequin pattern, keep drawing, if you want to do a partial cover, stop where desired.
Trace over the pencil lines with the fine tip Sharpie.
Painting the Harlequin Skull
Paint the bottom half of the skull (if not going to for the full harlequin pattern) with the white acrylic paint and let dry.
Fill in every other diamond with black acrylic paint and let dry. Then, fill in remaining diamonds with white acrylic paint and let dry.
Using the paint brush, generously spread on the tacky glue in the black diamonds. Sprinkle the chunky black glitter onto the glue and shake off excess. Use your finger to gently press glitter down onto diamonds to secure in place.
Let glue dry, brush gently with gloss sealant and let dry.
Finally, brush the tacky glue (light coating) on the skull’s teeth and sprinkle on glow in the dark glitter.
Let dry, brush sealant on gently, let dry and you’re done!
For an extra element of fun, place a tiny LED light inside through one of the eye sockets.
