If a list of the top 10 free MMORPG's (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game's) is compiled by everybody, some games will definitely standout and will be common to almost every list.
The choice of games is personal and varies from person to person, yet some games have such good quality and gameplay standards that they are almost hard to ignore.
The list that I have created won't order these games in any way; I have only created a list that any MMORPG fan would find useful.
As this list only the free ones (games which are free to download and play), many classic titles like World of Warcraft, Age of Conan, Eve Online, Entropia Universe etc have been left out.
Here is the list: · Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar · Jade Dynasty · Perfect World Online · FlyFF · Dungeons and Dragons Online: Eberron Unlimited · Runescape · Battle of Immortals · Fiesta Online · Vindictus · Heroes in the sky Other worthy mentions would be: Rapplez, Shia Online, Aika, Swords of the New World, Atlantica Online, Runes of Magic, Fists of Fu, Allods Online, Silkroad, Runescape etc.
Many of the games here would have found their way in the list mentioned above.
Not all would agree would this list and some many even add or delete a few titles from this list but then again, it's a matter of personal preference.
Having said that, every game developer requires some way to earn cash and therefore run the servers on which these games themselves run.
Every title mentioned above has some sort of in-game shop where certain items can be purchased for real world currency.
These items undoubtedly add many gameplay advantages to the player who purchases them.
All of these games also offer some way to convert real world currency into a substantial amount of in-game currency which is widely used in the game.
This system of vending is what generates a constant stream of revenue for the developers.
However, all these games can be played to their full extent without using real world currency (doing so however, would require a lot of playing time, patience, skill and luck).
There are also certain character specific skills that can be easily obtained via the said shops, while earning it in the game will be astronomically harder.
The 10 free MMORPG's and the others mentioned above offer great amount of repeatability, innovation, crafting options and varied gameplay features that would make sure that there is always something new to look for when you play the game.
