High School
Fredette is Glens Falls high school's all-time leading scorer, ranks sixth all-time on the New York high school scoring list with 2,404 points. He averaged just under 29 points per game as a senior, and was ranked as one of the nation's top 75 shooting guards by ESPN.com.
Brigham Young
Fredette was a contributor as a freshman, but really emerged as a key player in his second year at BYU. He started 32 of 33 games, was the Cougars' second-leading scorer (16.2 ppg) and was named to the Mountain West's all-conference first team. As a junior, he was even better, averaging 22.1 points per game and leading the Cougars to the NCAA Tournament and a first-round win over Florida. Fredette scored 37 points in the win over the Gators, tying BYU's all-time single-game NCAA Tournament scoring record.Expectations were high at the start of Fredette's senior year, but thus far he's managed to exceed them, posting a gaudy 27.4 scoring average through 21 games -- 20 of them wins -- and scoring 43 against fourth-ranked and then-undefeated San Diego State.
NBA Prospects
Fredette was considered a somewhat marginal NBA prospect at the start of the season. His ability to score is unquestioned, but scouts were unsure whether or not he'd be able to defend NBA guards or run a pro offense. His performances this season have quieted many of the doubters, who are starting to see a little bit of Stephen Curry in Fredette's game.
