Emergency Kit for Your Car Part I

Today roads are widely used source for transportation. We all are well aware of the fact about roadside emergencies. Your car can suffer a range of problems like a tire puncture, mechanical breakdown or running out of fuel. It's annoying and sometimes it can compromise your safety. To overcome these kinds of emergencies, you should have a fully equipped emergency kit. It will also increase your safety, reduce your stress level and will definitely make you get back on the road faster.

Your car's emergency kit is really important. You can imagine that even you have a break-down coverage club's membership; you usually need access to a phone in order to contact them. After that you may have to wait on the road for hours. To avoid this type of delay and compromise on your security, I suggest you to carry certain items in your car's emergency kit. It should contain the everyday use tools along with additional items for a long distance trip and to deal with winter weather conditions.

It is also very important that you should make periodic checks on the items in your car's emergency kit to ensure they are in working order. These periodic checks may be of following type:

Vehicle batteries are properly charged.
Spare tire is properly inflated.
First-aid material is up to date.
Torch has proper batteries and working bulb(s)
Spare bulbs and fuses are in working order.
Drinking water is fresh.
Cellular phone is properly charged.

You should be familiar with how each tool works; you should even know how to use the cell phone and the jack in case of emergency. First of all, in case of roadside emergency, you should not get panic, but if you become panic and do not have working knowledge of items present in your car's roadside emergency kit then it could be the worst situation for you and other people travelling with you.

Here are the must have items that one should have when driving.

Cell Phone

You should not forget to keep your cell phone in your car. It is not recommended to use your cell phone in any case while driving you car, but in an emergency, your cell phone can be the single most valuable item in your kit. Make sure your cell phone is properly charged. In case of emergency, call your breakdown recovery service or highway/motorway roadside emergency service. If you are in an area having no cell phone service, then ignore the no signal icon and dial police emergency services. Cell phone becomes really a very good companion in case of roadside emergency.

Hazard Triangle

In case your car is stuck on the roadside, its your first obligation to warn other motorists about the presence of your car. Especially at night, place a Reflective hazard triangle at quite a distance from your car.
