- Photos can be the most important part of the scrapbook for your mother. Find pictures that describe your relationship with your mother. Look for old photos of your mother and you together to help her bring back some memories. Find funny, sentimental and memorable photos to include in the scrapbook. Just be sure to use copies of the chosen photos so that you don't ruin the originals.
- Giving a scrapbook some organization can help the content flow better. You may want to organize it into specific events or chronological order. For example, give the scrapbook a time line and start it off with a picture of your mom pregnant. End with the newest picture you have of yourself with your mother. Or, set it up with specific events like placing all the Christmas-themed pictures together, the summer pictures together, the Thanksgiving pictures and so on.
- You can decorate your scrapbook in many ways, but keep in mind what your mother would like. Choose embellishments that relate to the photos you're placing in the scrapbook. If you have a page dedicated to your mother's cooking, include decorations that depict cooking. Or, find embellishments that cater to your mother's personality and hobbies. You want the scrapbook to be fun and something that Mom will thoroughly enjoy.
- Include captions and other words in your scrapbook to tell a story. Place captions under the photos that you want her to remember most. If there's a picture of your mother and you dressed up as a pair during Halloween, write the year and the story behind what you were wearing. You can use words, quotes or poems to describe how grateful you are toward your mother or to simply describe something in a photo. Words help break up the photos and give more of a description.
