- 1). Contact the company that holds your home mortgage and tell them that you would like to set up a biweekly payment plan. Ask them what the fee is for this and whether the fee will be added to each payment or if it is paid up front.
- 2). Decide on two dates per month that you want to make the biweekly payments on. Most people choose the dates that correspond to when they receive their paychecks. Make a note that there will be two months that will have three payment dates. Some companies will assign these dates to you.
- 3). Mark all of the days where you will need to make a payment on your calendar. This is important because there will be two months where you will make three payments. Remember that the payments are not twice per month; they are every two weeks.
- 4). Verify the new biweekly payment amount with the mortgage lender, which will be half of the mortgage plus any fees. Make the payment diligently on the two designated dates each month. You may want to setup automatic payment through your bank so that you will not incur late fees.
