Big Vacuum Trucks Take on Big Jobs

For some vacuum and waste removal jobs, the bigger the size of the truck, the better.
In terms of vacuum trucks, while it may seem that all models are essentially the same, this is not always true.
Vehicle size must be dictated by the amount and type of material being hauled as well as job conditions in order to select the best type and size vehicle for continued, reliable service.
Waste water and septic trucks used in exceptionally difficult conditions such as traveling over bad roads, poor weather conditions, and long roadways with inclines and downgrades require the durability of a heavier-duty vehicle than the typical metropolitan sized septic vacuum truck that cannot endure such demanding conditions for long.
Bigger is sometimes very much better, especially when working at bigger job sites.
Productivity From a productivity standpoint, it does make sense that a bigger truck capable of hauling larger loads will be more efficient by requiring fewer trips to transport the same amount of material.
Over the course of a job, that can mean: less fuel is used even if there is higher consumption on a load by load basis; less operator time is required; and less wear and tear on the fleet.
It can also mean less downtime for maintenance since a truck that can carry more will make fewer trips and experience fewer breakdowns as heavy-duty vehicles are built differently than smaller ones, which can mean lower insurance premiums.
It can turn out to be a good example of where 'more is less' and be very beneficial to a company in many ways.
Sturdiness Incurring bad working conditions regularly can really take a toll on vacuum trucks hauling waste material, so all such units need to be tough.
Carefully assessing conditions relating to wear and tear on the engine, suspension, transmission and other parts of the vehicle become much more important in some industries.
Bigger engines, stronger transmissions, and sturdier axles as well as higher-quality, stainless tanks can all provide a truck with much more reliable service while handling bigger jobs and poorer working conditions.
When it comes to actual daily operations, such as driving through mud, hauling huge loads up and down inclines, and driving on bumpy, windy back roads is definitely going to take more serviceable life from a smaller vehicle in the end, leaving a fleet in the position of having to repair and replace more frequently.
Efficiency While larger vacuum trucks are not right for every job, they definitely can outperform with the more difficult ones.
It is these kinds of super heavy-duty vehicles that are great for handling jobs such as: gray water and waste material removal from coal mining sites; large septic contracts with portable septic pumping on mine or constructions job sites and other out of the way areas; and waste sludge removal from mine sites with water treatment facilities.
While standard vacuum trucks can perform all of these tasks, it is the rigors of getting to and from most of these job sites that make bigger vehicles so much more useable and reliable for such jobs.
In the end, spending more on a bigger vehicle definitely pays off because fleets stay working longer.
Companies using vacuum trucks and looking to expand into a more industrial side of current business should consider all fleet vehicles and whether or not such units can handle the rough conditions that some jobs will entail.
Investing in a heavy-duty vehicle for these bigger hauling situations will not only expand business opportunities but do so in a way not possible with smaller fleet vehicles.
Big vacuum trucks can live up to their life expectancy and handle these more demanding conditions!
