How to Increase Your VA Disability Compensation

Things You'll Need

Instructions

1

Download the veteran's application for compensation and/or pension. Proceed to fill it out on your computer and print it when you're done, or print it and fill it out manually with black ink.
2

Complete the general information section of the application, which is where you provide your basic information like your name, address, branch of military service, dates of military service and other information. Attach a copy of your DD214 to the application to prove your service in the military.
3

Complete the compensation section of the application, which is where you list all disabilities you are claiming are related to your military service. Since you are applying to increase your VA disability compensation, you need only list any new disabilities that you are claiming are related to your military service. Attach copies of medical records documenting the places and dates you were treated for the new disabilities.
4

Complete the dependency section of the application, which is where you include information about your spouse, any previous marriages and divorce dates and information about any dependents that you have. Attach copies of your marriage certificate, divorce decree and dependents' birth certificates to the application to back up this section.
5

Sign your application and mail it to your nearest VA office (See resource 2).
