- 1). Lower the flange onto the drain pipe until the base of the flange is flush with the surface of the ground. Slide the two retaining bolts into the long channels on opposing sides of the flange until the bolts are seated against the ends of the channels.
- 2). Place a straightedge tool, such as a level or a strip of wood, on top of the flange. Slide the tool against the vertical retaining bolts so that both bolts sit flush against the same edge of the straightedge tool.
- 3). Rotate the flange by hand until the straightedge is parallel to the wall for any toilets that will sit at a 90-degree angle to the wall. Adjust the position of the flange until the straightedge indicates the desired angle for toilets that will sit at odd angles to the wall. Remove the straightedge tool.
- 4). Drive anchor screws through the screw holes into the flooring with a drill and screwdriver drill bit. Cement and tile floors require using cement anchor screws and a masonry drill bit to drill pilot holes. Mark the location of the screw holes with a marker and remove the flange before drilling the pilot holes with the masonry drill bit and hammer drill. Position the flange over the pilot holes and drive cement anchors into the holes.
- 5). Wiggle the flange to ensure that the unit is stable and secure. Tighten the retaining screws as necessary. Install the toilet following manufacturer's directions.
