Peter Sarsgaard plays affable estate lawyer Luke Marshall in "The Skeleton Key," a supernatural thriller directed by Iain Softley and starring Kate Hudson, Gena Rowlands, and John Hurt.
"The Skeleton Key" is set outside of New Orleans in what feels like a world decades apart from contemporary times. Hudson stars as Caroline Ellis, a hospice worker who takes a job as a live-in nurse to an elderly couple who live in a dark and foreboding mansion in the middle of nowhere.
Given a key that opens every door in the mansion, Caroline discovers a hidden attic room that holds a terrifying secret. Peter Sarsgaard co-stars as Luke, a local attorney working on the couple's estate.
Catching up with the critically acclaimed actor at the World Premiere of "The Skeleton Key," I had the chance to find out why he was attracted to the part of a Southern lawyer in "The Skeleton Key," the reason it was necessary to film this movie in New Orleans, and weird happenings on the film's set:
