What is the first thing you see when you look in the mirror in the morning?

Is it a smile?                                                                        

A frown?

Bed hair?

Or do you hone in further and become distracted by…What?!!! Is that a patch of grey hair you hadn't noticed?

Crow's feet?

Another wrinkle?

Crinkling neck?

Crêpe-y eyelids?

Saggy skin?...oh no, oh no, OH NO!... Is there anything that can be done for stopping the aging process?!!

And it doesn't end there! Did you feel winded after merely going downstairs to get a cup of coffee to get the energy flowing?....did you notice aches and pains when you took those stairs?...not to mention the extra fat and lack of muscle tone you caught a glimpse of when you stepped into the shower?

No matter how you suffer from it, aging—which used to be considered a normal part of the human experience, except for the elite few—has become more and more intolerable to us. The reason for our pursuit of youthfulness may be complex, but, given that we are interested in stopping the aging process, ...is it really possible? Or is the anti-aging industry based on a lot of hype that is taking your money but not delivering anything that will have lasting effect?

Can Aging Be Stopped?

Although scientists have studied aging for many years, and have found a variety of keys to slow the process of aging (including not smoking, reducing stress, minimizing toxins and their effects, and managing weight) until recently there hasn't been any known way to stop it. This all changed with the discovery of the direct correlation between the length of the caps at the end of our DNA strands that protect our chromosomes—called "telomeres", and the age of our cells. And more recently how an enzyme already present in our bodies (called "telomerase") can be activated to stop the telomeres from shortening. This revolutionary breakthrough in science is redefining the potential for how we will experience aging in the future.
