- 1). Clean the chip in the granite and its surrounding area well. Spray granite cleaner directly onto the countertop and buff it dry with a soft cloth. Pay attention to the chip itself, and make sure you remove any debris that may have settled inside it.
- 2). Line the outside edges of the chip with pieces of masking tape. Leave a tiny lip (no bigger than a few millimeters around the edge of the chip) bare and apply the tape to the surrounding area.
- 3). Mix up the two-part epoxy with the colorant in your granite repair kit until it reaches a color that closely resembles your stone. Scoop up some epoxy with the provided wooden applicator stick and spread it into the chip. Wait a few moments to see if the epoxy settles or slumps; if so, apply more epoxy until it is even or slightly higher than the rest of the granite.
- 4). Wait five to ten minutes for the epoxy to begin to dry. Remove the masking tape and use the razor blade to clean up the edges of the repair. Cut away any excess epoxy until the repair and the surrounding granite are even in height. Let the epoxy cure and dry overnight before setting any objects on the stone.
