Bottom Line:
Take a peek into the private life of everyone's favorite Tasmanian Devil with Warner Home Video's new DVD, "Taz-Mania: Taz on the Loose" which features the early '90s Fox Kids cartoon show Taz-Mania. A fun reminder of the comedy of the '90s!
Overview:
Meet Taz's family: his busy-body mother Jean, his laid back father Hugh, his boy-obsessed teenage sister Molly, and his cute little brother Jake. Taz sticks out of the family like a sore thumb, as the rest of them can speak clearly, wear clothes, and don't enjoy eating anything that moves. However, Taz can still hold down a job and seems to care about his family, as he is not depicted nearly as mean as he was in the original Looney Tunes shows in which he was first featured.
There are plenty of other friends in the "Outback" as well. The zoologist alligators Axel and Bull who constantly try to trap Taz to ship him off to a remote zoo, the Platypus Brothers Daniel and Timothy who have the Daffy Duck lisp (must come with the beaks), Francis Bushlad the aborigine prince who hasn't ever brought home a successful hunt, and more. Cartoon fanatics will recognize the voice talents of Jess Harnell (who performs the title song), Maurice LaMarche, and Rob Paulsen. The series and it's massive cast of characters is similar to other Warner Brothers shows of the era, such as Animaniacs and Tiny Toon Adventures.
DVD Contents:
The DVD features 13 episodes from the first season of the show on two discs. There aren't any special features included, which seems to be the norm for Warner Home Videos of old cartoon shows, but is disappointing nonetheless. Still, if you're a fan of the series, it's worth owning.
