- 1). Remove the trim all around the perimeter of the floor with a hammer and pry bar. Keep it intact and set it aside.
- 2). Set the first course of TrafficMaster vinyl planks alongside the wall where you want to start, connecting them at the ends. Set shims between the tiles and the wall, creating a gap to allow the floor to move with climate changes.
- 3). Set all the full planks that will fit. Cut the last one as needed, by scoring it along a carpenter’s square, then breaking it along the scored line.
- 4). Set the next course in place by pressing the edge of the plank at a downward angle against the edge of the plank on the previous course, pressing until they lock, then setting the plank down.
- 5). Proceed across the whole floor, course by course. Start each course at the opposite end of the floor as the previous one, so the ends of the planks don’t line up. Cut the ends of each course with your razor knife as needed.
- 6). Cut the planks lengthwise on the final course so they will fit against the wall with a 1/4-inch gap there.
- 7). Reinstall your floor trim, using trim nails and your hammer. The trim will cover the gaps.
