- 1). Obtain the education required by the state of Nevada from an accredited college or university if you are young or just starting the education process.
- 2). Get a score of at least 70 percent on the state-mandated test for initial licensure, and take the required Praxis testing based on the field and grade level you wish to teach.
- 3). Apply for an initial license if you are not already licensed. Download the form from the Nevada Department of Education teaching licensure webpage. Mail it back to the Department of Education. The address is on the form. If you are from out of state, you also have to apply for licensure. Nevada has a reciprocal agreement with most states.
- 4). Go to the Clark County School District website at ccsd.net to check the job listings, or call the main number of the school district at 702-799-5000 and request human resources for a list of job openings.
- 5). Submit an application for the position you want. You can find the application online or request one from the Clark County School District.
- 6). Wait to be contacted. Depending on how urgently the position needs to be filled, it could be a week or more before you are contacted. All those who are considered for a position are called in for an interview. It is possible, if there are a lot of applicants, that you could be called in for a second interview. If you do not hear anything within a few weeks, contact the human resources department. You may also check the status of your application online on the school system's website.
