- Established in 1996, Florida Fund for Minority Teachers Inc. sponsors the Minority Teacher Education Scholarship Program, open to African-Americans, Hispanics, Asian-Americans, Pacific Islanders, American Indians and Alaskan Natives who are Florida residents. Applicants must have gained admission to a teaching or education program at one of more than 30 participating private and public four-year colleges in Florida. Additionally, applicants must have previously completed 60 credits of undergraduate course work or hold an Associate of Art degree. The scholarship committee chooses recipients based on academic performance and communication skills. As of 2010, the amount of the scholarship was $4,000.
- The Florida Department of Education Office of Student Financial Assistance distributes funds each year from the Mary McLeod Bethune Scholarship Program. The scholarship is open to full-time students at Bethune-Cookman University, Edward Waters College, Florida A&M University and Florida Memorial University who are Florida residents and U.S. citizens. Applicants may have any major and be at any point in their studies, provided they have not previously earned a bachelor's degree in any field. To receive consideration, students must have a 3.0 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. Financial need and academic merit are the deciding factors for the award. For the 2010-11 school year, the scholarship amount was $3,000.
- The Florida Department of Education Office of Student Financial Assistance oversees the Rosewood Family Scholarship Program. To qualify for this award, students must prove a direct lineage with victims of the race-related massacre that occurred in Rosewood, Florida, in January 1923. Florida residency is not a requirement for eligibility, but students cannot have previously earned a baccalaureate degree in any field. The scholarship funds are accepted at any public post-secondary, vocational-technical, community or traditional four-year college in Florida. Students could receive up to $4,000 per year under the scholarship program as of November 2010.
- Governed by the Florida Department of Education Office of Student Financial Assistance, the Jose Marti Scholarship Challenge Grant Fund is a program for Hispanic college students. Eligible students must have been admitted to or be enrolled full time in any of Florida's public four-year institutions or one of a group of Florida private colleges. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and have Florida residency and U.S. citizenship. Students from all majors are welcome. The scholarship committee bases its selections on academic merit and demonstrated financial need. The amount of the award was $2,000 as of 2010.
