- 1). Wet a cloth with white vinegar or lemon juice and lay the cloth over the stain. Vinegar and lemon juice are both mild acids, which may eliminate rust and calcium deposits. After the cloth has soaked the stain for 15 to 20 minutes, wipe the stain to see if the rust or calcium has loosened up. If your stain wipes away, you are finished. If not, continue to step two.
- 2). Make a paste of borax and lemon juice, and rub the paste into your stain. Allow the paste to sit on the stain for 30 minutes, and then rinse the tile thoroughly with water. If the stain is still visible, continue to step three.
- 3). Buy a commercial calcium, lime and rust remover from your local hardware store. Several manufacturers make solvents to remove calcium and lime deposits, and they are typically stronger than household products. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for applying and rinsing the product.
