Best Time to Quit Smoking For Good?

Quitting smoking is just about the hardest thing in the world to do.
WHEN you quit actually has a major influence on how successful you will be.
Decide to quit at the wrong time, and you are almost doomed to fail.
Pick the right time to quit, and quitting becomes much easier.
I used to smoke over two packs a day.
And I also smoked a pipe with pipe tobacco.
I loved to smoke! When I finally did quit, I went through one really bad week.
The second week wasn't nearly as bad, but it was still no walk in the park.
But I had a special weapon that I was able to use, that most people don't have.
You see, I own my own business.
So I was able to stay home for two weeks while I quit.
If I had had to go to work all those days, to be around and deal with people and the stress of the office, I don't think there's any way I could have quit.
I would have caved in for sure! The problem is, most people don't own their own businesses, and can't just take off work for two weeks! So what is the solution? Well, the matter becomes one of timing.
Just about anyone can take a day or two off work.
Say you take a Thursday and a Friday off.
Then you have that Thursday, that Friday, that Saturday, and that Sunday.
Now let's say you quit smoking on the previous Wednesday.
You have to battle through work on Wednesday, but that's doable.
So now you have that Wednesday that you haven't smoked, then you've taken off Thursday and Friday; add in Saturday and Sunday and you've already quit for five days! That's almost a whole week already! If you've seriously drank several gallons of water each of those five days, your body is going to by mostly flushed out of the most immediate nicotine in your system by Monday morning when it's time for you to report back to work.
Some people suggest you quit over the Christmas or Thanksgiving holidays because many people have off work for those days.
In theory it seems like a good idea, but I think it's really hard to quit smoking during the holidays because they are really stressful times for most people.
Relatives all around, family commitments out the wazoo...
no, I don't suggest you quit smoking during the holidays! The other option is to try to quit during your vacation time.
If you have a week or two off each year, this might be the best time to try to quit.
Of course, you lose your vacation time but it might be worth it to kick the habit once and for all.
But I suggest you try my first method, taking off a couple days strung around a weekend.
Even better, if your company has already planned a four day weekend for some minor holiday, string a couple personal days around that and you could easily stretch it out to a full week off.
A week off is a GREAT start when quitting smoking.
So whatever happens, just try to schedule a week that you can be alone even from your friends and family.
Its hard to quit smoking, the less distractions the better.
And besides, you aren't going to be very fun to be around anyway! And remember to drink lots of water to flush out that nicotine!
