- 1). Name the website accordingly. Make is something easily recognizable in a search that should include the words Civil War.
- 2). Register and purchase the domain name at a site like Register.com, Godaddy.com and Dotster.com then sign with a free Web host site like Homestead.com and Doteasy.come. View the features available and determine which site provides the best amount of space.
- 3). Type the domain name in the box provided by the free Web host. Click "continue." Enter your name, address, email address and a password.
- 4). Click on a prepared template. Most Civil War sites will carry a blue (Union) or gray (Confederate) color theme.
- 5). Create web pages, such as "Home", "Confederate" and "Union." Click on "Add Text" or "Insert Paragraph" to enter descriptions and information.
- 6). Click on the icon for photos that generally says "Upload Photos." Adjust any photos added by grabbing the corners and dragging them.
- 7). Review your pages for errors the click "publish" to make the site live.
