- 1). Pull the hood release lever from inside the cab, and open the hood.
- 2). Locate the lower mounting bolt that secures the shock to the axle. Remove the bolt using a ratchet and a 13/16-inch socket. There is no need to hold the nut on the opposite side as it is securely fastened to the axle.
- 3). Locate the two shock towers from inside the hood. A step ladder may make it easier to locate and reach the bolts. The shock towers are located on each front fender-well. It is held to the fender by three 12-mm bolts. The shock is held to the tower by a 3/4-inch nut.
- 4). Remove the 3/4-inch nut on top of the shock tower from inside the hood using a ratchet and socket.
- 5). Remove the three 12-mm bolts with a ratchet and socket. A socket extension may be helpful in removing these bolts.
- 6). Remove the shock tower from the vehicle. Pull the shock out of the coil spring.
- 7). Install the new shock into the center of the coil spring from the engine compartment. Attach the lower bolt, and secure it using a ratchet and socket.
- 8). Install the shock tower from inside the engine compartment. Install and tighten the bolts with a ratchet and 12-mm socket.
- 9). Install the retaining nut onto the shock, and tighten it with a ratchet and 3/4-inch socket.

Repeat these steps to the opposite side of the vehicle to replace the shock. - 11
Close the hood.
