This is because they are not ready to accept that indeed, they have problems and that these problems should be fixed before it becomes the reason for the marriage to fail.
It is pretty easy to figure out that a marriage requires a special understanding between two people in order to keep their marriage working.
The Problem with Many Marriages...
As it is, this understanding means that both partners would have to help each other grow and mature.
However, the problem with most marriages is that once a couple decides to tie the knot, they also make an unconscious decision to stop growing.

We would dictate our ideas as to how the other should act, behave, think and decide, to the point that we were already controlling one another.
What made things worse was that we were so engrossed in controlling each other that we were no longer happy in our marriage.
What We Did to Solve SOME of the Problems in Our Marriage At that time, everyday seemed like a battle for control and both of us were struggling to win.
At a certain point in the marriage, I felt really unhappy because the peace that was once in our home had faded and was replaced by constant fighting and arguing.
However somewhere along the way, I learned how to compromise.
My wife eventually followed but in the beginning it was me alone working on the marriage.
I came to a deeper understanding of what we really wanted out of our marriage and with that, we tried to make our relationship work.
We finally have struck a balance by not allowing our urge to control each other get the best of us.
We learned that controlling each other ultimately destroys that person's sense of individuality - and we didn't want that.
Marriages are unique relationships that cannot always work well if you try to use all the recommendations of so-called experts.
On our part, what we did was to sit down and talk about our relationship.
We also discussed how controlling each other in the past has burdened our marriage.
By doing this, my wife and I were able to save our marriage.
