Everyone knows that the money is in the list or rather the relationship that you build with your list.
Therefore is it an abuse of your list if you use it to promote and launch your products? In this article I want to share my thoughts on how to go about promoting a product to your email list.
The most important thing in your email campaign should always be to provide your subscribers with something that is valuable, something that will be beneficial to them, something that you know will help them in some way.
That should always be your main objective.
How you go about doing this can take on various forms.
It might be to offer something for free.
It might be that you have written a brilliant article somewhere that you know will help people on your list and so you direct them to that article.
When you provide help like this to your subscribers not only are you helping them by providing valuable information that is relevant to their needs, you are also building a trusting relationship with them and building your own credibility.
It is sad that there are many people who use their email list as some kind of advertising platform.
If you continually promote products to your list it doesn't give you enough opportunity to develop a real and lasting relationship with them.
It does nothing to building your credibility.
However, there are times when naturally you might promote your product.
When I talk about promoting your product, actually I am talking about providing something that you know people on your list will benefit from and will find very valuable.
We all know that free information can be valuable and that is why we offer this in our email campaign, but a product that you have produced or a training program that you have produced, is also providing value, in fact it is probably providing more value than your free information.
If you don't offer your product to your list then you are not in fact been very helpful to them.
If they need your help and you are providing the solution to that in a product and have put a price on it, then you are doing people on your list a disservice by not giving them the opportunity to purchase it.
You see, if you change the way that you write to your subscribers and you always keep in mind that whatever you write or offer should be for their benefit then it becomes natural to offer products that you have created yourself or products that you know are of high value that someone else has produced, to your list.
If a friend of yours asked you for some advice and you told them where they could go to get the answer that they needed but the particular thing they needed was going to cost them money would you not suggest they purchase it? It is the same with your list.
