Regardless of whether you only graduated high school or have a college degree, every echocardiograph technician must be certified as a registered diagnostic cardiac sonographer. If you do not have this certification you must obtain it prior to the end of most employment probationary periods. The cardiac sonographer certification is issued by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. According to Education-Portal, certificate programs in echocardiography work well for students with limited time or resources who can't commit to a full-time degree program.
